The camp features 3 accommodation options that may be combined for larger groups.
The Main camp sleeps 180 in dormitory style bunkhouses.
The Cooks quarters sleeps 4.
The Lodge sleeps 34 in rooms of 4 or six people.
The Cottage sleeps 10-12 in rooms of 2-4 people.
The Main Camp
The main camp has a large modern kitchen and large dining room with doors opening onto a deck with expansive sea views and outdoor tables. The Kitchen and Dining Room can comfortably cater for 200 people. BBQ’s are supplied at no extra charge.
The dining room features a large wood-burning fireplace and snug area with firewood provided.
Redecorated Army Style dormitories with polished wooden floors and mostly single beds sleep 45 people with some separate rooms in each dormitory.
Other facilities include: A Gymnasium, an AV room, an Art/Resource room, A Study Musuem, A classroom for environmental studies, a Propagation Nursery and shade house, large toilet and showering blocks with separate facilities for adults.
All facilities are wheelchair friendly and we welcome groups with special needs.
The
Lodge
This
is a very attractive and well-positioned Heritage building with covered
verandahs and outdoor
seating. Situated down on the bay and sheltered
by a huge Pohutakawa tree this building is popular with corporate groups
and large family gatherings, or as an additional lodge for those hiring
the main camp.
The lodge is fully self-contained with modern kitchen facilities and
a large dining area. There are 2 refrigerators and a chest freezer. Plates,
cutlery etc. are provided. There are 2 shower rooms, each with 2 showers
and 2 separate toilets.
There is a covered BBQ beside the Lodge deck for your use at no extra
charge.
The Cottage
A comfortable and cosy ‘Bach’ style accommodation on the
waterfront. The cottage is fully self contained, you need only bring
your own linen, food and consumables. Stunning, uninterrupted views,
a private garden area and all the benefits of being at Motutapu Outdoor
Education Camp make this a must for a weekend retreat, or as an additional
facility for your larger camp. The cottage is available for hire all
year round and has a cosy wood-burning fireplace, 3 bedrooms, modern
kitchen, lounge/dininng and a bathroom with shower over a full bath.
