Getting There

Ferry companies offer services from most major wharves in the Auckland area. You can choose to land on Rangitoto or Motutapu Island. "Fullers Ferries" stop at Rangitoto Wharf several times a day, each day of the week. Chartered ferries will deliver you to Islington Bay, Motutapu Is. Most Ferry companies offer substantial fare reductions for school and large groups. Unless you intend including a day tramp of Rangitoto Island (the summit walk is recommended) as part of your itinerary, we recommend chartering a boat to Islington Bay. MOEC staff meet your ferry and transport luggage and food via truck to the camp. There are options for passengers to be transported into the camp if required.

Ferry Information

The walk into camp from Islington Bay takes approx 45mins. Groups may choose to walk in on the farm track, or to use the farm road.

The walk into camp direct from Rangitoto Wharf (direct) takes approx 2 1/2 hours. For the summit walk, allow 3 1/2 — 5 hours. Take plenty of water and lunch.
