A MOEC approved instructor must supervise all outdoor equipment. All use of outdoor equipment must comply with our ‘Safety Management Plan’.
You must observe all maritime safety rules.

We meet your arriving and departing Ferries to transport all luggage and food. Passengers may also be carried when there is room. All other trips to and from Ferries are charged at $50.00

Because snorkeling and environmental studies are run at camp, marine life should not be disturbed in Administration and Sandy Bays. We ask that you refrain from fishing in these bays. Do not bring any fishing nets to the camp.

The camp operates a "pack it in, pack it out" policy. All rubbish except food scraps, paper and cardboard is to be taken off the island unless you choose to use our rubbish removal service at
$250.00 + GST flat rate.
We have a noise curfew of 10.30 pm. Please continue activities quietly after this time so that residential staff are not disturbed.

There are no shops on Rangitoto or Motutapu Islands.
To preserve our Heritage Buildings, there is no smoking in any of the buildings.
Out-camps are charged at the normal rate. Some groups like to have part of the group camping at popular Home Bay. This can be arranged with MOEC staff in advance.
Campfires and vehicle access to the island are by permission only from the Department of Conservation. There are no campfires allowed in Administration Bay. Vehicles are not to be used for sightseeing purposes, only for transport to and from ferries. Contact: The Field Centre Manager, Department of Conservation Rangitoto Island. Helpful Information - We recommend the following:

A designated duties supervisor who is responsible for organising and supervising duties during the camp and for the final clean up. This person may liase with the Facility Manager as to the requirements for duties at the camp.
A designated person responsible for first aid.
All gear has to be loaded and unloaded on and off the boat and on and off our truck. This operation goes much more smoothly if all food and camp equipment is packed in similar sized containers (e.g. banana boxes). (Ask your local supermarket to save some for you.
Campers should have no loose gear (e.g. pillows) and avoid tying sleeping bags to packs or suitcases.
